MISSION STATEMENT

We believe the future citizenship of our children begins with early childhood upbringing, where children learn about respect and values, and develop a lifelong passion for learning.

Philosophy of the School

  • To provide a positive, safe, comfortable and healthy environment for children and parents, caregivers, whanau and staff, within a loving, caring, friendly and happy atmosphere, with open and sincere communication.
  • To create a micro community in which children and adults nurture well balanced children, who accept and value the differences of individuals within that community, whether those differences are cultural, talent based or personality. Because we accept and value differences, discrimination will not exist within our micro community.
  • We believe our micro community is an integral part of society where we value the multicultural aspects of the New Zealand society. We recognise Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a living and guiding document of our society, and Acknowledge te reo Maori as the official language of Aotearoa.
  • We encourage and foster interaction with other organisations in the community, for example, libraries, museums, schools, sports clubs and rest homes etc. We also seek to strengthens and foster a strong bond between Child, Home, Family and the Centre.
  • Children learn in a fun, creative and interesting environment through play (Learning is Child's Play) and a programme that is delivered in a holistic manner based on the strands Wellbeing, Belonging, Contribution, Communication and Exploration.
  • Children are offered opportunities to research, explore, generate and modify their own working theories about the physical, social and natural material world, thus learning independence and developing confidence and self esteem. Our programme incorporates the principles of Empowerment, Holistic Development, Family, Community and Relationships.
  • We recognise the importance of positive role models, and value and acknowledge each team member's contribution and life experiences in how they enrich the centre. We support our colleagues/team in their own professional development and further education, also ensure that, as a team, we stay informed of current issues and trends in early childhood education and the latest curriculum developments in both New Zealand and overseas.
